It Takes Courage To Ask For Help

 Welcome

Find Your Inner Courage

Welcome! I am so glad that you are here! It takes courage to ask for help and the decision to seek counseling can feel overwhelming and vulnerable. I will accompany you on this healing journey with empathy and nonjudgment. Being embodied on this beautiful planet can at times be delightful and at other times challenging, but it is always precious. I feel gratitude both for the long journey here and for arriving in this place of healing. I am passionate about counseling!

My clients are adult individuals and couples and I am an LGBTQIA+ ally. My approach is relational and somatic (body based) considering family of origin, attachment and emotions with you leading the way.

I work with clients that are seeking help with relationship struggles-maybe you and your spouse or partner feel disconnected or little disagreements become big conflicts and you are left wondering how that happened. Maybe conflict is difficult or painful for you and you are not always honest with your beloved to avoid fighting.

Many of my clients struggle with anxiety and/or depression that can make daily life, work, relationships and sleep challenging. Anxiety can cause us to spend most of our time worrying about what might happen rather than living in the present moment when everything is okay. Depression can make getting out of bed in the morning and starting the day difficult to impossible.

Often clients have experienced trauma, which may include complex PTSD (family of origin/childhood issues) and/or PTSD from single or multiple incidents. Trauma results from experiences that are deeply distressing and overwhelm the ability to cope. There can feelings of fear, helplessness, hopelessness and anger.

I also work with grief and loss. Maybe there has been a job loss, the ending of a marriage or relationship, the death of a loved one or a beloved pet has died. Loss has many forms and each may impact us deeply. Grief and loss are a normal part of life but when we experience these, we can wonder how the world continues to turn and the sun continues to rise.

My training includes EMDR (a trauma therapy), Hakomi mindfulness based somatic psychotherapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Emotion Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method. EFT and Gottman are couples therapies but also very useful with individuals. My use of these modalities is dependent upon my client’s needs.

My office is in Sol House at Sol Healing & Wellness Center, 13805 Ann Place, Austin, TX 78728. I see clients both in person and virtually based on what works best for the client.
